DS and GBA run natively so it can't get much better than that (unless you're one for cheats and save states in which case it's not that good for you). So in general, GB, GBC, NES, SNES are I believe near-perfect. There are also GB and GBC VC injects and I believe they are not using GBA backwards compatibility mode but rather they are emulating them. That's how GBA VC injects work in the first place, they're not emulators.

GBA can be run natively on the 3DS because the 3DS has an ARM7 processor in the SoC. NES is good, SNES is good on the N3DS, though there is Snes9x on both O3DS/N3DS and I think it's pretty good, I haven't had any issues with it. Using VC injections will get you very good performance as these emulators are built by Nintendo themselves, who built the actual consoles they are trying to emulate.
